Are TulAmmo KVB-223 small rifle primers safe to use in 5.56 ammo? I've read yes and no due to thin primer cups.

I have shot Tula primers in the passed and never had an issue. I did not see any difference between them and any other primer. I guess it depends on which powder you are suing and what the load is. If you have doubts use a slower powder and lower your amounts. I see the CCI 400 primer as the softest/thinnest primers I have ever used.

kwg Which Tula was that? As I recall they were the small rifle magnums. But, it's been all of 10 years ago I bought them and every so often I dig out some ammo that still has them in it. The primer has an O or zero on the primer. It's the only primer I have seen with any kind of a visible mark. They used to be very affordable at the gun shows. kwg

If you use a ball powder you are going to have problems. They had a specific 5.56 primer that has a hotter charge. The regular mag primer just had a thicker cup

I no longer have the box so I can't tell you if they are magnum or standard. I was pretty sure they were magnum but it's been all of 10 years since I bought them and all I have is some primed brass left. kwg
