I posted this in Optics, perhaps I should have left it here first as LRH is my intent.

I've seen one priced around $360 or so for this scope. It's supposed to have the same Mc4 coating as VX III's and turrets. Seems like a pretty good value. Are there any reasons a person should avoid it? Or IOW, if I buy this scope would I end up wishing I has purchased a 4.5-14X40mm and added a turret for a couple hundred bucks more than the 3-9 Leupie? Good luck, Troy

If you are planing to shoot out past a few hundred yards you will need more than a 3-9.....Out to 600 or 700 yards a 4.5-14 work's well.....After that 6.5-20 or a 8.5-25 would fit the bill

I kind of suspicioned that, but it's nice to hear it from someone with more knowledge. My long range experience is limited to hi-power, M-14, and combat rifle, M16A1. No scopes in either discipline. I only got to shoot the 14 at the Winston P. Wilson matches once. I shot OK but nowhere near the best there. The longest stages were @ 1,000 yds. I shot combat rifle several years with the longest stage @ 600. They added that one with issue of the then new M16A2 and its better sights plus the new 60 gr. green tips if I remember correctly. My last match was the all-army at Fort. Benning. I shot pretty good and had a blast. It's the only thing I miss about the guard. Good luck, Troy
