When CLR was reported to etch stainless steel I did a test. I took a high polish neck/shoulder gauge that I made out of the muzzle cut off, and soaked it in CLR for 2 weeks. Emptied and put in fresh solution every day. After 2 weeks there was absolutely zero etching, or any other negative effect, that could be seen. I wrote off the hysteria as typical "new cleaning solution" worries. I soak my suppressors in it for days.
