With SALAMI adoption of the 224 Speedmire, the Swift is deader than fhuqk. Hint.

A 18" 223 AR,will outpace a 26" 77V Swift,UGLY style. Hint.

You can't just put on a fast twist barrel on a Swift and run the heavier high b.c. projectiles. The throat is too long on a standard reamer for the loaded round to fit in most short actions. Try loading a 75 grain ELD-M to touch the lands and COAL is about 2.89-2.90" which means you need a 3" magazine to run 5 in the mag. A Remington 700 SA with a long mag or a Winchester Model 70 CRF short action are fine. The case dimensions also could do with some improving such as blowing out the shoulder a bit more on the Swift case, put a 30 degree shoulder on it pivoting at the shoulder/case body junction and shorten the case slightly but keep the long neck, grind off the rim like on the parent case 6mm Lee Navy so that you have a Grendel size boltface, cut a deeper extractor groove. Same capacity as the Creedmoor, but you would fit an extra round in the mag over the .22 Creedmoor.

so why not barrel it on a long action and you won't have to deal with ANY of those problems.... even with an 88 gr ELDM..

You would still have the case stretching, a semi-rimmed case, the boat-tail on the 75's is still a bit further up the neck than I would like because of the long throat.

A .22-243 Middlestead will outperform the .22 Creedmoor.

The .22-243 Middlestead will run around 100 fps faster than the .22 Creedmoor using the same length barrel and same powder (H4831sc) with the 75 grain bullet. In a 24" barrel you're looking at around 3450 fps v 3350 fps for your accuracy load. I wouldn't want a .22 Creedmoor when the .22-243 Middlestead is so much better and feeds better too.

SniffleKchunt,

You're Pretending aloud and have never seen or shot ANY of it...you "lucky" kchunt. Hint. Congratulations?!?

I only have (5) 224 Speedmires, have been around multiple Middledreads and have a coupla CHeetah's. Not counting 22-250AI's. Hint.

Fortunately for you,Imagination and Pretend are free,so even YOU can "afford" to "contribute". Hint.

About the same ballistically, but the Swift's name doesn't sound dull like the .22-250. Sort of like the 7x61 Sharpe & Hart Magnum as opposed to the bland 7mm Remington Magnum, but they're the same from a performace standpoint. Just a different perspective on rifle cartridges.

100 fps difference is 100 fps difference, which is not the same.

Never had a varmint care one way or another about 100 fps faster.

I've always wanted a Swift, just becasue the name is cool. Always wanted a 222, also. I like the name "Triple Deuce".

But, never took the plunge with either. The 22-250 and the 223 are more practical.

That's because you can't speak varmint! If you could, they would tell you that they fear a .220 Swift more than a .22-250.

Maybe, but then you never got what you really wanted.

I'd call 100 fps splitting hairs, certainly, but I'm with you - haven't had a .22-250 in a good while, but I've had a Swift for a long time.
