Just put a camera out on the KS farm this year for the first time, got a photo of this buck day one but little slow since. Guessing maybe 120-130 but not sure, he will get a pass this year.

...he will get a pass this year. I always say that too, 'til they're standing in front of me. 😊😂

I always have great bucks on my cameras before the season starts. Then it seems they all get the flyer that tells them deer season is open. GONE!

We didn't put out any cameras this year due to the new KS WIHA regs.
But when we have in the past the most amazing thing is the bucks we'd see on camera that we never, ever, saw during daylight hours. It's eye-opening.

Looks like most properties are archery only, is that accurate?

Depends on where you're hunting. I think eastern is more archery while in western rifle is allowed pretty much all over.

skeener,
That map sure has changed in the 20+ years I've been hunting in KS. I see a couple of familiar spots in the SE part but the volume of walk-in hunting parcels pales in comparison to yesteryear. I began seeing it about 15 years ago - landowner enrolls in WIHA, a guy or group (resident and non-resident) contact landowner, offering more in lease rate than WIHA pays, the following year or two, it's out of the program.

The supply & demand in hunting, deer in particular, is way out of balance. It's almost impossible to find club access here in the south (FL, GA & AL) regardless of price. The pressure from So FL for land in AL and GA is relentless. Lease fees per member of $3,000 per year is very common and rising with many clubs having their land out bid or sold out from under them.
Although I'm not as familiar with the KS WIH I totally agree that seems the likely case.
