Hello all,

Maybe I slum it, but I am a pretty big fan of the HACT trigger on the Vanguard S2 series rifles, but just wanted to ask: For you guys who have them in rough, cold etc environments, have they held up well?

We've all heard members here and people elsewhere mention 700 triggers which have frozen or locked up at inopportune times, etc. Just wondering if the Howa has any similar tricks I'd need to be aware of in generally nasty Canadian winter lol. Say a couple days outside in December regardless of conditions?

If kept dry and out of the mud and sand, I don’t see why there’d be any issues. Some seem to think everything needs lubing up and squirt oil willy-nilly.

Same trigger as the other Howas, I’m sure.

Some years back I squirted some Ballistol into a little foil cup and put it in the deep freeze. Didn’t freeze, but got kinda gummy, enough to slow a striker or do other mischief.

I had a Weatherby Vanguard 2 in .308 that I absolutely loved and I traded it away....I'll always regret that one.

Anyway - the trigger was great. I had the gun for about 2 years and shot a few thousand rounds through it. I never cleaned, degreased, oiled the trigger once, and it was clean and crisp till the day I sent it down the road.
I regularly shot through the winter as well, and no issues for me. My range sessions were long enough that it had plenty of time to get down to ambient temp.
