They had it listed for $1100 and it didn’t sell. It is about 30 miles from where I happen to be today (normally about a 2 1/2 hour drive). Think it would be worth a quick drive?

no, it's been after market drilled and tapped for scope mounts. The forearm indicates a pre-WWII 99R. R's weren't factory D&T'd until about 1950

Three point checkering, so it’s an early R. Pre-war Rs in 250 are not very common. All depends on how you feel about the D&T.

I was going to stop by and see how low he was willing to go but I remembered I had a bid in on a Winchester 71 and figured I better wait just in case. Well….. good thing I waited ‘cause no one else bid and I won it. A great “consolation” prize

If I wanted a classy 99 in 250 to hunt with (and didn’t own several ), that’d be a hell of a classy rig. And rare as heck.

Seems we did some trading or at least swapped a few lies on the old GON forums about 15-20 years ago.

Cool. Still hang out there a little. I have swapped, traded and sold way to many that I wish I had back. It seems I am now trying to get them back and they always cost a lot more now
