I have a 308 kimber Montana that was manufactured in 2005. Would anyone happen to know the twist rate on it? I have already called kimber with no luck

Probably 1 in 12. But, you can check yourself. Start a cleaning rod with a reasonably snug patch, mark it with tape or a sharpie and push it till it makes 1 turn. Then measure how much length of rod it took to rotate one turn.

What projectile is giving you pause out of an 18" 1:12 308?

I wonder what the reasoning was behind Kimbers decision to twisty these rifles so slow. Not exactly like this was likely going to be somebody's groundhog rifle shooting light bullets.

1-12 has always been pretty standard for a 308 I think.

Just checked a custom 98 Mauser 06' I built in 1993. Shilen #1 contour barrel setting in a Brown Pounder. 1-12. I would have bet it was a 10.
Of course 1993 was a long time ago grin

Really? Hmm... seems like it was just yesterday 🤔

I am continually astounded at how quickly people make up their minds on little evidence or none at all.
