The other sites that make loading pictures really easy like Facebook, twitter, etc??? They have hundreds of millions of dollars invested in writing that software and even more in hardware sitting underneath it to store all the media.
The media sites like imgur only do that one thing and don't do a lot of other things.
The software running this site doesn't have that level of investment, and it's not running on servers with nearly that capacity.
There's always tradeoffs.

Does anyone know the reason this site has such an archaic, Rube Goldburg process to post a photo or two? Its just ridiculous.
Can't we just have a paper-clip icon or similar to snag a photo to post?
Thoughts?
Bob
It is NOT hard to post a picture here if you would just take the time to get a free account here https://postimages.org/ and within a very short time you'll be able to post your picture. I do NOT use a cell phone for internet. I use a cell phone for hello and good bye with an occasional text tossed in.

In my opinion, that's what's wrong with computers. Unless you know the language, any explanation you receive is gobblydegook. When they make this stuff intuitive, i.e. not designed by techies to be understood by other techies, then they'll have a winner.
How about this?
Forum X has a "photo" icon in the top right corner that you click on. You find a photo you like and want to show on the campfire. Who cares what format it's in, the computer is supposed to be smart right, let the computer sort out the details. I just want a "I want to add a damn photo" icon. Copy the photo and hit the "I want to add a damn photo" icon, and boom add a damn photo.
All this "HTML" "UBB" "not that one" "look, over here" "here it is, this might work". Just add a damn photo icon. Copy, paste.

In my opinion some of those "computer programmers" don't have a clue what they are doing. I got rooked into Windows 11 and my computer was a mess. I took it to the local computer people and they told me windows 11 had a lot of problems. It works now but i don't know for how long.

I stopped my truck, took this picture with the cell phone, downloaded it to Postimages and then copied it and put it on the campfire in less time than it took me to write how to do it. Somewhere around 50 seconds…

Oh that's a completely different animal there. That's them selling you a defective product then selling you the "solution". You know, like owning a Ford product.

Right clicking on an image will open a box with several options, the one you want to left click on is 'copy image address' then you can paste that in the box that comes up for posting an image.
If you quote someone's post it will show the image codes and not the picture in the editor box, you must use the 'full editor' to get all the options.
I've been using this site image gallery when posting most pictures thinking that they will never go away as long as the site is active, unlike the ones I did through photobucket. Recently this site has started reducing the size of the pictures when uploaded which has reduced the quality a lot, they must be having issues with storage... so maybe the pictures won't be as permanent here as I thought if they start running out of space or find it costs to much to keep them. If they would allow a person to go back and delete their old pictures that were no longer needed it would help.
Pasted a picture in from Estes Park last weekend, and it uploaded fine. Click the symbol to the far right of "Hotlink for forums". Paste here
It is pretty easy.
My only complaint is there is no way to resize the photo after it's been uploaded. I use imgur.com, and before I copy the hotlink I can choose some generic sizes for it to be displayed at - Original / Small Square / Big Square / Small Thumbnail / Medium Thumbnail / Large Thumbnail / Huge Thumbnail. I usually do Large Thumbnail or Huge Thumbnail.

I just passed 80 years of age. I was pretty competent when the world was mechanical, adapted acceptably for my needs to analog, but just got fed up and tired with digital. I liked Windows XP, but detest my now unused laptop with Windows 10, in favor of an IPAD, which is all that I really need. I like Fireball 2’s rant.
