What an entertainer !
He does not actually suffer from .458 Winchester Magnum Denial Syndrome (458WMDS),
he does this stuff for laughs.

There is a reason that the 4-Bore Elephant Rifle was replaced by the .450 NE.
The .458 Winchester Magnum beats all.

That one should be mounted on a carriage. 😁

Well, no wheels on the mechanical rest, but that might be next !
The rest is built from lumber that had best be 4x6 or 6x6 beams and 2x10 boards
or some laminations of 2x4s or 2x6s.
Smaller boards, siding, or luxury vinyl flooring could be used to dress it up.
Maybe a green steel roof like on Cabela's stores ?

Video does not show the recoil damper mechanism of the machine rest completely,
but you can see what looks like some cables and pulleys underneath.
Cables must attach to front of sliding gun rest.
When the slide goes rearward, wood sliding on wood, cables going out the rear of the "understructure"
might be dragging some weights along the ground on a sled, pulling them toward the gun, just a guess.

Cables and pulleys underneath are just
for returning the carriage to battery after
the shot, sliding on white plastic (delrin?)
blocks on timber rails.
When the recoil slide hits the back of the platform
the entire apparatus slides rearward on the ground.
He calls the entire rest a sled.
Nonleaded sled.

Many a water fowl, crane, ect. died in the Louisiana swamps to a “Punt” gun…..mounted on a Pirogue or Bateau! memtb

Believe it or not, they still "punt gun" for ducks in Scotland!
I was just there and met a fellow that does it once a year.
