How light you talking? I love my model 70’s but don’t consider any of them true lightweights. Kimber Montanas fill that niche.

Great questions. However, those Montana's are built for little guys.

I went through this phase with a short action stainless 308 classic. I got it to 7 lb 3oz scoped. Different decisions I probably could have got 7 lbs even or 1 oz under.

Any lighter you’re going to have to spend some dough $/oz goes up exponentially below 7 lbs.

Have a push feed lightweight in 270. 20" bbl. I think it's mid to late 80s.

Most of my magnums are 7 pounds even. One pre 64 fwt is not bad:

Very nice Ed. What does the rifle weigh, as pictured?

I also have a "Lightweight" carbine in 250 Savage and a lightweight in 7x57. I have several Featherweights too but Pre-wars are still my favorite.

How light qualifies as lightweight? I've got one with 26 inch barrel, chambered in 330 Dakota that comes in around 6 pounds 8 ounces before scope. I think there's another 2-3 oz I could get shaved off of it but it gets more painful to shoot and it's borderline tolerable currently.

That's very light. Must be an exceptionally lightweight stock on that one.

Man, that sounds like an elk rifle if I ever heard of one.
