How light you talking? I love my model 70’s but don’t consider any of them true lightweights. Kimber Montanas fill that niche. Great questions. However, those Montana's are built for little guys. I think Scotty would find this amusing. He loves riding miniature snow machines. Have you seen the picture? Do share Watch it fellas…. There are rules here.. BSA, don’t try a Montana. You’ll hate it I’ll fess up… What is wrong with that?

I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

I like the lightweight stocks over the featherweight stock. It wasn’t too hard to find them up until a few years ago. The push feed XTR’s are one of the biggest sleeper rifles out there imo. Are the lightweight's all carbine models? Their stocks look more like a model 70 Ranger youth model stock. The classic compact I recently bought seems like it's a mix between a lightweight stock and a fwt stock: I actually prefer the fwt stock. To each their own.

They are essentially Fwts in a more classic style stock (no schnable or ribbon checkering). I like the less pronounced schnable on the classic compacts, as well as the lack of ribbon checkering. The ribbon checkering is too overdone for my taste.

Sometimes if I run across one I have not seen before, and it's a great deal, I'll snag it. Other times, if I know it's more rare, I'll snag it.

I hit the lotto on this light weight with the tiger stripes You sure did hit the "lottery". Now, with those winnings you can buy a lower set of scope rings.. That's an above par stock though.

Someone should buy that beautiful "lightweight" fwt compact in the classifieds right now. He made it even more "lightweight" when he turned the barrel down.

I have one that was built by Larry Racine (LPR Gunsmithing) for me. It is 100% built from Winchester parts. The stock was an eBay find. The barrel was a new take-off from a PF Featherweight Larry had in the shop for years. The action came from a gentleman here on the campfire. Larry trued the action, screwed on (and milled the barrel to ensure the timing was correct for the roll mark), re-chambered, adjusted the factory trigger, and glass bedded into the stock. It's light, handles and balances well, and shoots as good as it looks. So I suppose it's no longer a factory Lightweight, but it's a darn nice rifle. Rob
