Trying to bring a Savage 99cd series A up to par, and overall the gun has seen lots of shooting it seems but is going to be a great new to me rifle.
Magazine that it came with has the right hand feed lip worn enough that the magazine works great until the final round held in the magazine, and that final round can just fall right out of the magazine due to the worn feed lip.
These magazines are hard to come by and expensive. Much like a good gunsmith!
What is the hope or lack thereof of having a skilled smith weld up a feed lip back to almost new condition?
My gut says winding up with the proper hardness, temper, etc would be pretty hard to achieve and might be wasted money and effort.
$125 or more for hard to find magazines though makes a guy dream.
FYI EBay sold me a factory new mag, and Numrich sold me an aftermarket for half the money.
Both work, the OEM is a better product than the aftermarket
