I am looking at purchasing a Winchester model 94 deluxe on 30 WCF. Great condition but it has what appears to be "DV" stamped on the bottom of the receiver right in front of the trigger. Appears to be factory stamping and is blued over. Anyone heard of this or know what this might be?

In checking both a standard and a deluxe model 64 that I have, both have a CV marking in the location you mention. These are certainly factory stampings and I suspect they are inspection/inspector marks. What they stand for I do not know for certain.

My '40s standard in .32WS bears a CV mark in the same location.
