Was there this early autumn, surprisingly we didn’t see any deer, just a black bear and a bunch of elk.

It's from our home place in the Virginia Blue Ridge mtns actually.

The deer #'s in east Tenn are low but rising, one reason I still call Virginia home[have my own place to hunt].

Fact.

I "hunted" up there three times in the late 70's, high school. At that point in life I should not have shot what I shot at. BIG mule hundreds of yards away. I missed, thankfully, but did meet the hunter and deer over the ridge as we hoped for a hit on one of them. A very large 6x6 was had by the other hunter. Beautiful place. How hard is it for an in-stater to draw a tag up there these days?

Pretty damn low odds of drawing one of the few random quota tags in the x zones...... if you really want to hunt, you could purchase a PLM or "private land management" tag from a landowner.

No such thing in Arizona.
Have to draw a tag or buy an auction tag.
If Geno has lifetime license he gets resident pool so much easier to draw.
I drew tag 8 of 10 this year for 3A-3C with 6 points.
It's on par with strip to draw. Just got lucky for once

I already know what it is and it's been that way for months.

Is that a general tag for deer Dennis? I hunted muzzleloader in that unit way back 20 years ago I think. Don't remember that one being too hard to draw.

This tag was number 7, Game Manager Lee even commented on how low a tag number it was grin

I didn't know about the resident pool thing for Lifetime holders until just a couple of years ago when a friend down there told me that's how it worked.

I did see a few deer, there's one in this picture. See if anyone can find it.

Had to check this out seeing as how that part of AZ is in a good (bad??) drought? This tank had water back in Dec 2014. Not this year

[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]

But because azzhats being azzhats, when I got down in there I saw something black along the edge of it. Broken poles, parts of the fabric, and the carry bag for a pop up blind, just left in the woods. Azzhats abound. 1/4 mile to the road where my truck was parked. Too far to carry it out??? I packed it up into the bag, tied it to my pack. Got the package of stakes and the tie down ropes for my efforts

Every time I go somewhere nice to get away from them, it just seems to reinforce my belief that people, in general, are DICKS.

More dickweed action. It's no friggen wonder I live where I do and wish I could get farther away.

Wee! Look guys, I can ride my four wheeler around in circles in camp. Nice flat area where I parked to camp and someone had to rut it all up.

"Target" shooters, right beside the little two track road, littered with dead bottles and cans, in the tree and all around on the ground. Might have been from TN or such as there was a dead can of Hard Mt Dew. Who the hell would pay good money to drink that? Buy some Dew, take a couple of good slugs, fill remainder with cheap vodka, save the difference in cost.

Ah well, enough bitchin'.

Don't like complex meals when I'm hunting alone. Saw the price of 1lb propane canisters and while in the Bi-Mart up the road saw they had a folding Sterno stove for $5 or so. Wondered if it would work as a twig stove, wouldn't be out much if it didn't. Brought some meat from home, couple of burgers to reheat and some frozen uncooked cube steaks. The twig stove worked just fine.

Simple dinner, burger on a hot tortilla sprinkled with Habanero Tajin. Probably had some dehydrated fruit and a package of Pocky for dessert.

I'm sure you are correct but if you read REALLY close, you can see Ed is asking about Modoc x zones, not Arizona.
