I got myself into a search for some good, hard candies for hunting. Hiking up into the mountain range with a lip full of chew has always had its drawbacks. A dry mouth and chewing tobacco ain’t no worky for Beav anymore. I’m not a chewing gum fan.
I was thinking hard candy would work - just until I reach the hunting grounds. Then grab a pinch of chew.
I’ve been looking for candies other than the old Lifesavers or Jolly Ranchers. I found these, which are pretty good.
Just checking to see what else is out there, in other locales, that we don’t have available here.
Slum, no butterscotch or horehound flavors - Thanks!

I was always a fan of good lemon drops. Jolly Rancher used to have a good lemon candy too. I have never cared for the real sweet stuff but like the sour candies.
You get out of life what you are willing to accept. If you ain't happy, do something about it!

Dry mouth from humping a pack. Salt would make it worse.

OK, since ya put it this way, Brach's Starbrits(peppermint). Have eaten pounds of them in the dry air Rockies. Might be why I'm a redneck with gum disease. Oh the GD part, redneck, a natural.

I had hopes that many of you who are about the dying age, would have the lowdown on old school hard candy that you just don’t see much anymore. Like small batch made for a specific area.
Kidding of course. Make me wonder, was candy 100 years ago much, much, better than todays candies?

Werther's. And anise squares. And lifesavers (all flavors). And atomic fireballs. And a good dental plan. Oh, and Zotz.

I don't know if it qualifies as hard candy. But English toffee is my favorite. A local candy manufacturer, a little one shop place makes up some chocolate covered English toffee that's the *best*. It's expensive, but I treat myself to a box every now and then.
Their shop is right across the street from one of my favorite gun shops--so I often come home with a box of brass and a pound of English toffee.
Lemon Flavor Fisherman's Friend cough drops are my go to when moving around hunting. Copenhagen once I'm sitting still.

Enjoying a Claeys Horehound as I type this. I also like Werther's.
Horehound, anise and black licorice. Occasionally spearmint and peppermint. Nothing like a little sugar boost to keep a guy going.

The purpose of hard candies is to develop sharp cavities as they dissolve for the cutting of the sides of the tongue, the inner cheeks, and the ribs at the top of the mouth. If swallowed, they can perform the same way on the esophagus.

Not only a less than minimally educated person, but stupid and out of touch as well.
my favorites are free ones, as in what's in that big bowl at the Electric Co-op when I go in to pay my bill.
