This fallow showed up while I was on a meat hunt in Texas and...well...he was wearing meat ( plus the horns...)

NOPE! I" cheated" and went conventional this time .30-06... I reserved the .17 Rem for hogs and predators.

Thanks for noticing and commenting.I do not care for all the gory photos some folks post, it shows no respect for the game. I'm sure you also noticed the 'last bite'..which I give to any proper big game animal.

It was a full house load with a 180 gr Hornady SP, there was a chance a nilgai or elk would step out and I wanted to cover my bases. This fallow was unexpected.

Well done, Ingwe. FN Mauser? Nope! thats a Interarms ( Zastava) Mauser that I did a little modification on. Looks like an H&R 340 stock. Basically the same rifle I have and you are using an excellent scope there. Twin to my rifle. Great set up and congrats on the beautiful fallow deer.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA
