Factory loaded Hornady 75 grain ELDM from a 16” AR-15 at ~115 yards That's pretty nasty. That's the exit I assume.

I have killed deer with the 62 grain TSX, and the 75 grain swift Scirocco, the TSX does a lot better job.

Stick, is there any published data for Lever and 75’s?
Thanks? Lever' is slower burning than CFE and that data abounds. I shoot it in dozens of rifles and it's interesting, that Data is often soooooo slow in it's arrival. Hint. I've long shot it in 223,223AI,224 Grendel,22BR,243 Grendel,6BR,ARC,264 Grendel and will be squirting 112's with it in a new K&P 6 Dasher spout, next pass. Hint. I tend to drive .003" constriction and Lapooey brass, with an obvious Square Smooch. This particular throat arranges same,at 2.530" COAL. I don't have any less than 2.430",whether OEM or Custom, with cited projectile. Hint. Imitation is THE most Sincere form of flattery and CLUELESS Lying Piece Of fhuqking Schit Brokedick Droolers like to Pretend aloud,as they "live" vicariously. Pardon wares that exist. Hint. Fhuqking LAUGHING!.................... Thanks Stick.

The component bullet and ammo are still listed by Speer, it just seems that they haven't made them in a while, as they don't show up at retailers. I've generally gone for lungs with anything other than a mono when shooting the .223. With a mono, I try to hit shoulders. Broadside exit from 77TMK on whitetail. Good blood trail and short run. +1 I’ve talked to Speer on the phone and that assure me the 75gr Gold Dot is not discontinued and allegedly they will produce a run shortly, we’ll see.
Will Munny: It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. Take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have.
The Schofield Kid: Yeah, well, I guess they had it coming.
Will Munny: We all got it coming, kid.

I have some 64 gr. Bondeds that look great. Will have to get back to them some year. I have enough medium bores to keep me busy for a while. RZ.

Funny times we live in... people went from wondering if a .223 was enough gun for a coyote to wondering if the .223 with 77tmk is "too destructive" on deer sized game
Good stuff.

Good stuff. Yeah, not enough power to kill one, but blows them up too bad, well with some bullets. Hmm…. DF

Good stuff. Yeah, not enough power to kill one, but blows them up too bad, well with some bullets. Hmm…. DF There’s a pretty good thread going over on Rokslide addressing this. A poster asked why have people suddenly discovered that the smaller calibers work. I haven’t read through the entire thread yet but one post that stood out to me was made by a guy from either NZ or Australia. He figures that with the explosion of whitetail populations in the US and the increase in bag limits and harvest hunters are more willing to experiment and coupled with the WWW they’re more likely to share data. And that data points towards smaller calibers with better bullets being plenty effective on game. In his part of the world the 222 has been used for culling for a long time and has a reputation of being very effective, probably due to it’s users being proficient shooters since they hunt more than one weekend a year unlike many Americans. All I know is that I used to be a 30cal and up fan. By trying smaller calibers for myself and keeping a journal of loads, bullets, and their performance on game my mind has changed drastically in the past 5 years. I firmly believe that there hasn’t been a deer born that I’d be afraid to shoot with a good bullet in a 223.
