Being realistic isn’t as important as dropping the role of a leading lady that doesn’t fit the storyline or add anything to a movie.
Scarlett Johansson beating up 230 pound men, ruins a movie… Scarlett Johansson never ruins a move. Well said

Just watched one about how 4 Hispanic high school students won an under water drone competition against MIT with the help of their Hispanic engineer teacher. True story and they showed the people it was based on at the end. The students were really Hispanic but the actual teacher was a white guy. Good show anyways but it's interesting how they adapt story's to meet today's equity requirements. I'm guessing the next snow white will be black.
Bb My personal favorite is the one where they have this skinny black burr-headed chick as a Navy SEAL Commander who knives to death a (what appears to be) 200+ lb Russian paratrooper in hand-to-hand combat. So stupid the politically correct crap. Yeah, a 120 lb gay female demolishing a 240 lb badass Navy Seal ..absolutely ridiculous. And these idiots buy the s h I t

I have trouble watching television as most of the crap that is on is American hospice or hospitality orientated...and I just don't buy some lame arsed pimply little prick as a neuro surgeon, nor can I abide some gender fluid twat noncing on about what some twit has just half cooked.
Similarly I am irritated by the so-called American police shows where the actors could all be understudies in a gay review. If it isn't a doco it had better be sci-fi so I cannot pick it to pieces
My wife refuses to watch tv with me as I am constantly deriding the crap.
These are my opinions, feel free to disagree.

Oliver Stone upset a few people with the realness of "Platoon" when it came out in 1986

Legends of the Fall and Jeremiah Johnson were not without issues. Still both worth owning and watching again. I’m not sure that Secondhand Lions was historically perfect, but close enough for me. If I want perfect accuracy, I watch The Princess Bride. 😳

I've got enough reality in my life, I don't need it in my entertainment.

I suppose it helps if the setting is supposed to be "reality". Maybe that's what helps me like many Coen brothers films- they get quite absurd but remain possible in contrast to so much of the Mary-Sue vomit being released lately.

My metrics are out of date, and I'm no George Clooney fan, but I thought the movie Syriana was well done.
Lots of realism in the movie Wild Geese, alongside some pure bullshit. Still worth watching
I appreciated the movie 13 Hours, but like I said above, the metrics I use to judge reality are out of date.

Does a movie have to be real for you to enjoy it. Not talking about Star Wars...etc... or prop mistakes like germans carrying m1 carbines
ex: Castaway . like a jet engine is gonna run/feather under water. If a movie, essentially, attempts to be real, It’s far better to me when it’s accurate. If it’s fiction, and not science fiction or fantasy, it just makes for more realistic suspense. “Thief” with James Caan is one of the most realistic crime dramas ever. One of my favorites for that reason. “Die Hard” was entertaining, but, if Bruce Willis can fall several stories down an elevator shaft and stop the fall by grabbing onto a slippery ledge, it just kills the suspense. In that case, he’s magic. And if he’s magic, there is no suspense. If he can perform magic, then there is no tension when he gets into a bad spot. No thought about how, if at all, is he going to get out of a difficult situation if he can do magic. Also, he puts his gun away to fight the villain fairly when hundreds of lives are at stake. No cop ever would do that. Things like that ruin a movie for me. “The Great Raid” was such an awesome war movie. After I first watched it, it seemed so implausible that I didn’t really enjoy it. But I researched it, and all of that really happened, and the movie got the details incredibly accurately. “Schindler’s List” got a number of details, and the horrors of the holocaust generally, correct. But it purports to be real history, and some of it was just made up. For example, the scene near the end when the train took the kids and women away from Schindler’s camp to be exterminated, and he drove hard and fast to save them, never happened. The holocaust is so terrible and tragic. A movie about it doesn’t need to embellish. Spielberg made that up just to add an insignificant fraction of drama to a dramatic reality. That somewhat ruined that movie for me.

You're right. I've been looking for a copy to add to my collection for a while. The music of Tangerine Dream went a long way toward adding the suspense in the movie. PJ

"Thief" 1981... real life jewel thief John Santucci (Schiavone) as "Sergeant Urizzi", they used his burglary tools as props... he was arrested again for burglary 10 yrs after the film... safecracker, WR "Bill" Brown a former "Scalise Crew" associate... it dont get more "Real" than that... crooked Ex cop Dennis Farina once planted a gun on Paul "Peanuts" Panczko during an arrest to increase his prison sentence to get him to flip... knew of some cats, from the Panczko brothers to Jimmy Catuara's associates during "The Chop Shop Wars"... watched this movie as a teenager, gave me Goose bumps

Yeah, just like John Wick ! By movie standards, John Wick is real. He actually uses standard capacity, not movie capacity magazines.

A few movies I want to insert myself. Eating biscuits with John Wayne in searchers. Then reality of my dietary disease (celiac) sets in. I would have died back then. Empty revolvers bug me. Fist fighting quick draw artists don't compute. I notice things like Henry rifles and colt revolving rifles in bonanza, before replicas were available.
