4 days, 2 family dinners, 2 bucks, got a lot of work done on a garage at the cabin, 5 lbs of jerky, 13 lbs of summer sausage, bunch of venison burger, tenderloin and backstrap put up, way too much bourbon and IPA’s…. Gonna be a bitch when the alarm goes off at 5am and reality sinks in.

A nice slow fire here though not cold like up north. The blue heeler is sleeping hard against me to the left here on the couch. My wife just sipped her shot of warmed Fireball and is heading to bed. Still fiddling with my Dan Wesson PM45 I bought a while ago. A well crafted firearm no doubt.

Benn going like that Jim for a few weeks here.

Getting close to single digit temps in the AM, 11F past two mornings.

Wood heat is the answer, even here in Sunny California, land of palm trees & bikinis.

Jim;
Good evening, I trust that all with you and your fine family are as well as that photo looks.

We're currently burning our "shoulder weather" wood so it's either spruce or lodge pole pine along with just enough Doug Fir to keep the place warm overnight.

Am I wrong seeing lodge pole there for you all?

Even though we did our Thanksgiving a month back, I'm still thankful for healthy family, a roof over our head, enough food to last for a bit and enough firewood to share with any neighbors who might run shy if it comes to that.

All the best to you and yours Jim.

Dwayne

The doodles are ours, the poodle is our MIL/FIL's dog. He's pretty awesome too though, so I'm happy to claim him as my own if necessary.

Had our first wood stove fire yesterday morning but, alas, not a fine dog (or any) to share it with us.

Temp has been getting down into the 30s near dawn and up to 60s during the afternoon - and a brisk breeze at times. Excellent clime for outdoors tasks.

Not the kind of chilling late November weather had by many but, then, this is high desert in AZ. Thanks for the pics and notes.

Damn Jim that sculptured carpet looks to be in good shape, don't think I've installed any since the late 80s or early 90s.

Probably late 70's Roger.

I guess it could be as old as 72 when Grandpa spent a bunch of money fixing up the house trying to get Grandma to come back.

It didn't work....thankfully.

I started installing carpet in 77 working after school and summers for my Dad, and laid a lot of that carpet back then.

Mid -30s, raining last few days. 2' of snow is now about 5", and diminishing. I don't think we will be taking snow machines to the rec cabin and a wood fire come the 1st.

Icy roads R us.

We do have a nice gas fireplace here in the house. Dogs don't care what fuel. smile
