It’s been 5 hours. I called a plumber and they suggested shutting off the main. I did that since it sounded like a good idea.

If anyone wants to avoid these types of headaches use one of these - https://streamlabswater.com/pages/streamlabs-controlI have three and I never have to worry about floods or pipe bursts. Yep it's a little pricey, but even with home insurance, there is a lot they will not cover in a water loss. And if you have to address the resulting mold, most policies are capped at $5,000 for remediation and that typically covers about a third of the actual costs.

Also nice to have a handful of SharkBite fittings and a few lengths of copper pipe to deal with frozen pipes. Why wait for a plumber...
