Jennifer Flewellen wowed an entire community for a second time on Oct. 20 when she appeared on the sidelines to cheer on her 18-year-old son, just 15 months after waking up from her years-long slumber.
“Nobody expected her to wake up,” Peggy Means, Flewellen’s mom, told WNDU.
“We were told all along that she has anoxia and that the brain damage, she’ll never wake up, but you never say never.”
The 41-year-old mother of three suffered catastrophic injuries from a September 2017 car crash in which she swerved across a roadway and struck a utility pole.
She was found unconscious at the scene and remained in a coma for 4 years and 11 months, making her recovery extraordinary and prompting doctors to call her a “living miracle.”
Flewellen’s return to the field was long-awaited — the community remembered her as a dedicated mom who was always the loudest cheerleader standing along the sidelines. More at link.

She's awake but far from healed. At this point, she's more like someone with Downs syndrome. Who knows when or if she'll recover. It's a miracle that she even woke up.

The world would be a better place, if they had given her the needle 4 1/2 years ago.
A 5 year coma is a living hell for all involved, and the lady obviously has severe brain damage.
