Mudflap is charging a 2% surcharge on credit card purchases. Hopefully my math is correct, but with diesel at 4.50, a 2% charge needs a 9 cent lower price just to cover the surcharge. I used it for about 20 gal of fuel last week and with the surcharge, my 9 cent price savings saved me a whole nickel. It's not worth driving to the nearest Mudflap station.

We have Murphy Express here with winterized diesel. Filled up this AM, $3.74/gal. I saw some yesterday at a Conoco station. $3.59/gal

I would love to find it at 3.74. I paid 4.09 yesterday at the cheapest station around. Their Mudflap price is 9 cents lower than the regular price but with the surcharge, that's the break even point. This station is 20 miles away so I only go there when I'm passing through anyway.

You diesel guys are sure bears for punishment. Cold weather starting issues, heavy engine, the fuel stinks, the exhaust stinks, expensive to buy, expensive to fix, expensive to fuel... Just this morning I filled up for $1.57 a gallon with BP 87 octane regular. $1.30 off a gallon with the Metro Market (Kroger) fuel points that the wife gets each month for buying groceries. Double fuel points when you bring in your own grocery bags.

Just paid $2.24/gal for diesel a few minutes ago at Kroger, but I use their fuel points. I get a $1.00 off each fill up.

I generally wait until they do 4x fuel points for gift card purchases. Seems like I average between 5,000 to 20,000 points each month.

Yep, but pulling 20,000 pounds up mountain passes makes it worth it.

You are paying that high price too as almost every thing today is shipped by diesel powered semi trucks. That shipping is reflected in about everything you buy. Fuel cost is a big ingredient in inflation.

Plus here in Colorado along the front range, we have to have an emission test for diesels every two years. About $75

Just throwing this out there, this webpage you can search an area for cheapest fuel prices.

https://www.iexitapp.com/

For instance it is showing 31 stations within 5 miles of my search area, low price of $3.43, high of $4.19 and average of $3.73 for diesel.

gasbuddy.com is similar but for gas

Two weeks ago I paid $3.78 for Diesel in Plummer Idaho and in Milton-Freewater Or. I paid $4.27. I have found Plummer Idaho the cheapest place to buy Diesel in all my travel, unless I am around Salt Lake City and then I hit the Maverik's.

I always use gasbuddy before I buy gas or diesel. Sometimes using Mudflap saves money but not always. There aren't many stations that use it near here.
With gasbuddy, you can enter a city, then switch to 'show map' which will give you a continuous map with prices in a large surrounding area.
