Slower powders like H-4381 or H-450 really work well in the 33 WCF/ 1886 Winchester.
Both powders when loaded close to maximum produce tighter groups with Hawk and Hornady bullets.
Both powders also fill the case and the slower powders reduce pressures in these older Winchesters
or Marlin rifles. The accuracy improvement is also noticeable. I generally keep velocities down to about
2000-2050 fps with these powders. Accurate.

Both Hornady and the Hawk 200 gr bullets respond well and the slower powders are easier on the rifles.
Since I hunt with my 86 rifles, the group has not changed with iron sights-and
I can concentrate on distance to the deer.

40-65 brass from Starline really helps, as you can make good 33 brass in generally one pass withe re-size
die. Annealing may add life to brass. The Lee factory crimp die also helps with a good crimp,
for the tubular magazine.

Good to know 450. The 33 Winchester is a cool cartridge. The rifle is just icing on the cake.
