or maximize the Rem 700's to it's full potential, get away from that Hornady crap and do a 300 RUM and spit the 212's at 3400 fps or the 225's at 3300
nothing else even comes close.... other than the 338 Edge
or are you skeered ?

Yeah, the 300 RUM is a horsepower heavyweight always wanted one in a custom Ruger No. 1 throated properly for max performance. There was a company years back that did only 300 RUM and 338 Lapua on No. 1s, they were awesome firearms and reasonably priced. I shouldn’t have passed.

or are you skeered ? There's always a few randos who don't kill anything yet lust for useless cartridges in rifles they will never own. It's even funnier knowing they could never handle the recoil well enough to shoot at long range and think some magic level of power will make up for their spastic trigger jerk. Have a SS 700 7mm Rem Mag - Into it for a pretty low price, someone has had the barrel off or at least put a different one on as it's about 90 degrees from where it should be by the factory marks.
Anyways - Already have two 7mm Rem Mags and tempted to turn this into a 7PRC. Believe the mag box is long enough, but many of you know a heck of a lot more than myself.
Thoughts/opinions?
Have a VX5 3-15x44 that needs a home, don't have a stock but plan to keep my eye out for something decent and light weight. Edge, etc?
Would like it all up at 7 1/2-8 lbs. Barrel suggestions and contour?
Thanks OP it's a good idea to get a box of 7mm PRC and see how well they feed from the stock mag on you donor rifle. Will probably need a tweak to the mag box but you want to be sure the rail timing will work with the shorter case/larger shoulder diameter. As you have said a few times this is a want and not a need but any 7mm throwing 168-180grs at +/-2900fps is pretty close to the best cartridge possible for North America. Have fun.

Are all these memes an insecurity thing or are you just infatuated by them. I can assure you that if nothing else they are extremely annoying.

[/quote] I totally agree with this. Launch a 7mm pill of 160 or better at 2900 plus and you've entered the grail. My 280 rem with 140s is right at 3 grand and it's lightning. Had a 7 rum that would shoot 168s at about 3050 to 3100. Its an awesome cartridge. But a 7mm rem mag with a 168 to 175 flying 2900 to 2950? That's where it's at. Don't jack up a good 7 mag for a prc bud. If your gonna go prc, build it from the ground up.

IN my rem 700 in 280 Rem with IMR 7828 with win cases and Federal 210 primers, I shoot the 160 & 162 at 2930 fps, a load right out of the nosler manuals #3 & #4.

My Ruger #1 in 7STW shoots 160-162 gr at 3200 w/ H1000. They do not bounce off bulls.

OP, I have a Brown Precission stock (not a pounder) here that looks like I won't be using now. Rem 700 BDL LA magnum barrel channel. Previously bedded, no pillars. Probably could use a new paint job, for aesthetics sake, but completely useable as is. Please PM for pics and more info if interested.

You'll have to cut the threads off and some of the shank to clean up your chamber. If it's a factory barrel, then your done at 7 rem. If it's got some shank on it, you can maybe swing it, but if your going full out with a new barrel. Disregard

Why screw around creating another duplicate magnum chambering. Wtf you just like to piss away dollars for minimal gain?
