I want to say it’s 12” Ben. He doesn’t have any trouble getting a good sight picture in the scope or reaching the trigger comfortably. We shot a bunch of reduced loads with cast bullets back during the summer and he does pretty good with it. I limit him to 100 yards as a max range on game as he makes about 3” groups at that distance. He does have to use a set of sticks or a pack because it’s too front heavy for him but I think that’s a good thing. It helps teach him about getting steady and only taking good shots when he’s not rushed, something I think everyone should strive to do regardless of age.

Thanks for the info. I had my son (9) shooting a Kimber hunter 243 all summer. He was on target to 100, off the bench or tripod. With a Carhartt, and sweatshirt the rifle was too long. So I have to start looking for a shortened stock for kids.

For this year I ended up borrowing a 25-35 from my brother. He got it done at 25 yards.

Thanks for sharing. This is my favorite kind of post where I get to vicariously enjoy a hunt that is very different from the ones I experience in the southeast. Congratulations & fun stuff!
