Ten months ago, I saw that Bergara had listed their B-14 Timber as available in left-handed models. I'm always curious about new LH rifles so I wanted to check it out if I could locate one. The caliber selection was some popular common ones.

Then I waited & waited but none appeared. Finally I emailed them in August to inquire about their availability and was told they would be shipping "soon". Their website has since been updated and it says the LH models will be available in "Early 2024". While surfing around, I saw my first one today if anyone is interested in a 700 clone:

That’s good news; hopefully they’ll be available in something other than 308 and 6.5 CM soon.

Since I'm a right-handed person who shoots left, not only am I always curious about new left-handed rifles, but I like ambidextrous ones as well. So I was intrigued when the Beretta BRX-1 was announced in 2021. A straight pull that can switch sides left or right. Interchangeable barrels. Ambidextrous. More affordable than a Blaser R8. Interesting!

Now two years later the caliber selection hasn't expanded past the original three 30 caliber chamberings (308, 30-06, 300 Win Mag) and I've yet to see one available in the USA. I'm glad I did not hold my breath on that one. So props to Bergara for getting the first LH rifles to appear in less than a year. These days that's about as fast as a lefty can dream of. I hope the appearance of the 308 indicates the other five calibers will also start trickling off the production line.

That rifle in .243 would be about the ideal starter package for a new deer hunter around here.

Haven't seen a left hand but I did sight in a 270 for a friend's son in law and was amazed in the accuracy. I've not seen a 270 shoot that well out of the box.

It's been almost a month since I posted the original sighting of a LH 308. Today, the first .30-06 appeared. Four more calibers to go...
