I could see Coleman and Santa Anna from my deer stand. I hunted that place for 25 years, best lease I ever hunted.

You reap what you sow. Everyone is just fine with all the deer FARMS popping up EVERYWHERE. This is what we get. C’est la vie!

We were on the corner of county road 300 and 356 south of FM 67. We killed a lot of bucks over 200 lbs, tons of quail, lots of doves at times. The owners died, kids sold it, took the money and ran.

Yall make me feel bad talking about all those use-to-be places around there. It's a sad story but a familiar one. Mama passed away. Daddy's too old and kids send him to the home and sell the place you've hunted for years and had such a great relationship with the landowner. Pains me to think about those places cut up to "mini-ranches" and "ranchettes" and a big entrance gate with "Eagle Nest Estates " or "Wolf Den Estates" and the roads gone to pot with the constant traffic. The last thing the state needs is another espresso brunch joint or wine bistro
Damn you J.R. Ewing ! !

Dang. The Ranch I hunt is not too far north of there! Amazing how high the land price are in Coleman Co now ! Did y’all ever eat at the Steakhouse in Coleman or the one in Santa Anna ? Sometimes we drive into Brownwood for a trip to Underwood’s BBQ, too. Best Fried Chicken in Coleman makes home style fried chicken almost as good as my Mom & Grandmother cooked. Took my Mom there to eat once before she passed. Even she was impressed.

We've been on our small lease in Comfort for 20 years now. Most of the neighboring ranches have been sold off and divided up in ranchetts, the cedar has encroached into a green wall, and the deer numbers have declined drastically. CWD is all around us and closing in every year. It's been a good run, but I can see the end in sight.

The bigger news is the two cases they just reported inside the research pens in the Kerr WMA. This is going to get interesting.

Come the end of deer season, I start cutting cedar again. Got a bunch down on the creek bluff I’m gonna start on. Will rebuild a portion of the old work pens and will put pickets in the gate wings for the big field. We’re trying to keep this place ranch land. We’re kinda the frontier. Have them ranchettes on a small portion of two sides. But everything else south is ranches.
Dumbasses from town come out here to have footrace on the county road. (They’ve phuqued up everything in town). So they throw 4x8’ sheets of plywood for the dumbasses to run over. Phuquing idiots don’t know the cattle will try and walk across them.

Knew they had cases in Gillespie county. Just one county over from us.

CWD spread from one county to around 22 counties here in West Tn in a short period. Not looking good for us for sure.
