Most Over The Counters work such as Advil, Alieve, ect. Tylenol won't do much. Meloxicam is by prescription and is stronger. Any NSAIDS taken frequently can damage the kidneys. Older folks have the chance of internal bleeding. Best not to take them on an empty stomach.

Stay active and moving.

Alwaysinmyeasychair: It is my understanding that NOTHING you can "take" will reverse arthritis!
Been there done that!
There are some "things" you can take and some "things" that can be injected that will mask/relieve the arthritic pain -for a while. But many of those "things" have side effects and/or lose their effectiveness with time
You get arthritis - you GOT arthritis.
Hold into the wind

Am on two scrips for my RA and take a steroid if a flare up.
Still hurt, just not super bad.
Stomach is always blah, due to meds.

Functional but not happy.

Last flare up lasted 4 weeks or so.
Am finally able to walk normal again.

Depending which one you have osteo or rheumatoid makes a difference on treatment options. I have rheumatoid and am taking hydroxychloroquine 200 MG. Takes a while to see the pain reduction but I take half of what's prescribed and it works. Also have been told by 2 docs and an RN that I don't have to worry about the Corona virus. So far so good for both.

Of that whole Itus family, a bad lot to be sure, that goddam Arthur is the worstest. Tendon has caused his share of trouble too.

Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

Going this week to the orthopedic clinic to start a series of shots in both knees ,supposed to put something in to fill up the gap between the bones that has been worn away . Hope it works ,would like to walk across the yard again without my walking stick

Can you tell us any more detail about the injection?

Is it an Hyaluronan injection? Or a benign filler, etc? Platelet rich plasma?

Several different names for the same stuff: Euflexxa, MonoVisc, Synovisc.

I take the Monovisc injections in both knees every 6 months. It is important for the doctor to know exactly whereto inject it. Don't let a PA do it. It works differently on different people.Mine gives me about 75% release of the pain in about two weeks. They don't cure anything ,just replace the lubrication.

It does not help the pain when you twist the knee.

Not exactly sure of the name of this stuff ,could be used cat turds for all I know ,but I get one in each knee for the next 3 weeks . Got my 1st one last week so 3 more for a total of 4 hurts like hell even with the freeze spray but I can already tell a difference in how I can get around. Will ask about the name of it tomorrow and get back to you. A Gummi about an hour before the appointment helps cut the edge pain a little.
