I came across this a while back and wanted to know if any of you have tried it. Apparently you start with over ripe banana peels with black spots. You scrape the inside to remove the fruit. Some fry then marinate. Some reverse. You can use soy , maple syrup, a little apple vinegar . Many recipes. Interested if someone here has mastered this as it has its challenges.

Maybe you come up with that after trying to smoke dried banana peels.

Why ruin a perfect piece of bacon.

Due to the increased price of ammo, don't expect a warning shot...

Kind of interested in why you would be calling fried banana skins 'bacon'.

These are my opinions, feel free to disagree.

It’s the vegan bacon. Myself I like real bacon but I thought we might have some chefs here on the fire that has tried this. That’s all.

Rather absurd that you'd think there'd be anyone here interested in anything vegan.

Next I'll share my daughter in law's recipe for cauliflower "chicken wings".

Or not.

I like cauliflower! The daughter in laws recipe might be good. I will eat real bacon as long as I can , but am curious what the banana bacon taste like. Have a Merry Xmas! Alan

Historical food enjoyer here. I get the message and like the waste-not attitude. Ye best search an old tyme cookbook, maybe write one of the enthusiasts like Townsends. I doubt the NA colonies had such but perhaps the tropicals did?

Sure I'd eat it. Not as a replacement for real bacon. Rather, I enjoy most foods and like to try new New and different things. Though I do pretty much draw the line at offal.
