I patiently await to see my first "Bad Montucky". Hint. I've shot a herd which were billed so,but correct assembly and poking Reupolds on shelves, resolved all. Hint. Have a goodly pile of Mail to sort and need to remove a MK4 M1 4.5-14x from a 7-08 Montucky and scope it proper, for THE Win. Hint. Hopefully the BC's are there in the pile, somewhere. Hint..................

A 2005 Kimber Montana chambered in 308 Win will certainly have a 1:12" twist....Good luck...Hb

As plainly cited prior,1-12" RPM in .308",will more than stabilize all things that will fit/feed the magbox. Hint.
Coming full circle, pass the 155 Skinners. Hint................

Twist is super easy to measure. Why not measure it to know for sure, rather than rely on internet guesses?

My bad then. I thought 1-10 was standard. It has been on 30-06's that I've had. Just checked a custom 98 Mauser 06' I built in 1993. Shilen #1 contour barrel setting in a Brown Pounder. 1-12. I would have bet it was a 10. Of course 1993 was a long time ago Really? Hmm... seems like it was just yesterday 🤔 No kidding. Wasn't that like 10 years ago. lol

The 7-08 Montucky is "plagued" like a 308 Montucky,in that their issued guise will simply stabilize everything that nestles mag confines. I'm squirting 162 ELD's in the above rifle. Hint.
Now as to a 264 Kreed or 7 Whizzum, they're VERY different animals,on VERY different receivers/stocks. The OEM 7 Whizzum will Smooch and nestle .796 BC 180 ELD's and things simply don't get better than that. The 3" 'box really do favors there. Hint.
As an "All Arounder",the 264 Kreed certainly shoots softer and .697 BC 147's don't suck, even without an ability to Smooch. It outpaces the 7-08/162 melding and that's heap big praise. Where did you see one for $750?!? Hint.................(grin)

No kidding. I don’t think I’d linger on a $750 montana; even in this market.

I wonder what the reasoning was behind Kimbers decision to twisty these rifles so slow. Not exactly like this was likely going to be somebody's groundhog rifle shooting light bullets. Magazine length?

Kimber changed the rate of twist on the Montana model chambered for .308 Win in 2016 (I think but maybe 2015) from 1:12" to 1:10" twist rate. I have owned several of both and could tell no difference in the accuracy shooting mostly 150 grain handloads, they have all been very accurate....Hb

With a 1-12",the magbox COAL is THE fhuqking limiting factor. Hint.
Same goes 1-8",9" and 10". Hint.
