Happy Thanksgiving. I'm new here and I don't want to start WWIII but I am looking for the lowest rings possible to mount a fixed 2.5 scope on to my Win 94AE. I love how the rifle handles now but my eyes are more of a limiting factor than the 30-30 cartridge. I would never d&t an older Winchester but since it is an AE I'd like to feel more confident continuing to hunt with it. I can still group minute of deer easy at 75 yards with the open sights at a target but put a buck in the forest and I have trouble. I tried the search function and found lots of interesting things to read but not the info I was looking for.

Thanks,
Clink

I will start it off I guess You don't want to go too low as the eye piece will interfere with the hammer/thumb clearance.
You will almost always have some front sight in you view, particularly with low power scopes.
The Best mounting combination I have found for the Model 94AE is the Weaver base and Millett Angle Loc rings. The scope will not move under recoil and you have windage in the mount.
The holes in the receiver are purposely drilled to slightly favor a right hand shooter and to give a bit of clearance for ejecting the cartridge cae. This can give a left handed shooter a small problem. Nothing serious but windage in the mountis is nice.
This is the .307 with a Burris Short Mag 4x. Good scope with a stupid reticle.

Here is a .356 with K2 Weaver in Weaver rings.

Here is a 25-35 with a Weaver V-3 which is an ideal setup considering g the need to give the power change ring some clearance.

This is a very poor picture of the Best scope/ mount combination I have used on my .307. The Weaver V-4.5 in Millett Angle Loc's on Weaver bases. The small power change ring is nice and there is plenty of power.

Nice looking rifles. I am right-handed so life is easy and I can put a hammer extension on if need be.

I like the look of the Weaver k3. I'll look I to the Millet rings. Are they low or medium height rings?

Thanks

These are low rings. I know they make medium height.
All of the hammers have extensions. What I tried to illustrate is the close proximity of the hammer to the eye piece.
Even with the hammer extension the eye piece limits access to the hammer.

I dont own a 94, so I may be way off. But I did a lot of research and trial and error on the lowest rings and base set up. And for every rifle I have tried BLR, Marlin, savages the lowest combo is warne brand weaver style bases and old school weaver low rings. (I prefer the older ones with the larger flater thumb screw)

Not a 94 but the lowest scope base for a Marlin comes from Ashley Performance using Leupold rings. https://ashleyperformance.com/products/leveractionscopemount?variant=28388793859

I ordered some weaver 2 piece bases and old style weaver low rings with those big thumb screws. We'll see how it works out.

It is hard to swagger with Weaver rings & bases on your rifle, but that is the only draw back i can think of at the moment. Insert smiley face here...
