Just picked up my new Japanese Winchester. BEAUTIFUL! It's the 1873 carbine competition high grade. I don't compete but I wanted this model for the short lever stroke, 12 3/4" LOP, 20" round barrel and of course the case color and fancy walnut with oil finish. Can't wait to get out and try it. I got it in 357/38.

I saw a 24 inch barreled one at a shop last week. I would have bought it, but the trigger was really heavy. Is trigger easy to lighten?

Will do. I haven't been able to get it out yet. If it feeds and ejects I will be THRILLED! I got rid of my ruger 77 357 because it wouldn't feed after 2 trips back to ruger so I replced it with this.

Well that sucks! I hope the new Ruger/Marlins function better than that.

I've got the same thing except it's a 24" rifle chambered in .44-40.
I love it. I amaze myself with it's accuracy. It's got iron sights of course but I get tight groups and can always hit what I'm aiming at.
I wish I could say the same about my 45 Colt guns.

They don't. Bought a 1894 357 yesterday that jammed on first function test and was missing the rear sight elevator. Brought it back today and swapped for another..... it was worse. Going back .

I bought the Winchester 1873 for the wood and octagon to round 24 inch barrel It is in 357. I just put on the Marbles tang sight, I'll probably put a Lyman 17A globe on the front for silhouette.

That's a beautiful rifle. I like the tang sight. It took mine out last week and it shoots like a dream and butter smooth.
