Killed a big male coyote at 517 yards yesterday. My longest shot to date! Tikka 1-8 twist 22-250 with 75gr eldm. Hit him broadside in the heart, small entrance and small exit. He jumped around a couple times and fell over dead!

Huskemaw 5x20. Dialed to 525 and hit him perfect, slight breeze so I held 6" of wind and hit perfect.

What a great shot. The Huskemaw must be treating you right.
Killing a coyote at 500 yds is on my bucket list.

Back before laser range finders were available to the average guy, I shot a coyote at 730 paces with a 22/250. It was on the second shot, guesstimated hold over. Lucky shot and of course no one there to witness it.

On any Sunday, as they say: 720 yards. 6.5 Creedmoor running 147 ELD match bullets. Shot last month, right before Thanksgiving. Last year my longest shot was 600 yards on one that got in the way of my steel plate shooting: This was the plate I set up. No bullet impacts on it, because that is the picture I took right after I set it up. It is set out way up on the hillside, and the only time I'll go back to it, is when I retrieve it. I can shoot at it from 1000-1,400 yards away. Here's that Coyote that I shot a few days earlier at 600 yards, drove down close enough to take a pic of it, when setting up my target stand at 600 yards: I think the birds had been picking on him. He was shot with the Tikka T3 varmint 22-250 with the 1 in 14" twist and 53gr v-max. Great little bullet, from what I've seen of it. Works very well in the slow twist Tikka. Almost makes the fast twist Tikka 22-250 irrelevant.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

I may have to try that bullet 1917. All mine are 1-14. Have a couple 1-12s when these fail.

I was scanning a hay field with snow falling straight down. On the far side a coyote hopped over a snowy bush, rangefinder said 620, pow with the Sako .22-250. As the coyote staggered in a half circle with blood visible in scope a second coyote hops the same bush. Pow, two bloody coyotes staggering. One made it about 10 yds, the other made it about 40 yds. Rifle was medium heavy stainless sporter with Zeiss 5-25 varmint 600 yrd reticle verified on 600 yrd target. Remington 50 gr Accutip. So basically everything fell into place for me to pull the trigger. The rancher was impressed. Another memorable one I knocked off a snowdrift at 507 yrd with a Sako Carbon .22-250 with Accutip and same Zeiss scope, not far from where I killed 16 coyotes in one spot one day.

Hal Sorry WA state, and yes have pics of eagles consuming all those coyotes, and the ranchers were extremely happy while watching me shoot them out to several hundred yards.

Breeding season, It was foggy so I stopped there to wait it out, deciding to call a bit. When the fog lifted about 15 feet there were 9 coyotes standing there. I started shooting and they kept coming.

Luckiest shot? Crossing shot on a Running coyote at 400 yds with my Sako .17 Remington. I found no blood on him until I was skinning him. Right down the eustachian tube. He looked like a gymnast doing a floor routine. I’ve taken two or three out past 500 with a .22-250.

Big coyote across the ice covered lake lasered after at 634 yds. .243, 55gr ballistic tip.
One coyote with my .223 with 53gr v-max.. zeroed at 235yds. Never checked the range with a laser but I held over I figured 7’ so whatever that may have come to. I think longer than the above.
