Good fine. Have both. My Rem 760 hasn't been cut. Still nice.

Beautiful ! What makes you think the 760 was cut and not a factory carbine. They did make the 760/742 with 18” carbine barrels.

Yup. They were all marked "CARBINE". Say what you want about Tascos. I spent a lot of years with them in my younger days and never had a problem

Younger days they were what I could afford, now I tend to use Burris or Leupold

I've had a Leupold erector lens let loose on me but those Tascos and Bushnells did right by me

Id just like to say for the record that you Sir, suck. So Jelly right now.
They say everything happens for a reason. For me that reason is usually because I've made some bad decisions that I need to pay for.

Nice finds. 2 nice rifles.
If the second letter on the barrel code of that 760 is V, which I highly suspect it is based on the stock and forearm, that is a shame they cut it. That's a 1979 and a 1 off yr only chambering in 35 Remington. I have two I was fortunate enough to come across. One I hunt, the other is a safe queen.
They chambered not a lot, but chambered in 35 Rem from 52-67. Stopped chambering in that cartridge altogether then brought it back for 1 yr only in 1979.
Doesn't take away from your use for it, and coming up with a gem. It looks in great shape from here.

It looks nice. Depending on the price I sure wouldn't turn it down, cut or not.

Many 760 Remington’s have the beautiful (😵💫) see-through rings. If I got a set, they would be on a table for $5.
I prefer classic. Semper Fi I used to run with the hare. Now I'm envious of the tortoise and I do my own stunts but rarely intentionally

You did great - looks like they did a good job of cutting it down (sacrilege I know but nice none the less)……two fine venison getters right there!……and you must have a special lady to “let” you buy guns with her!!
Congrats!

PennDog The crown was definitely done well. If not for the lack of carbine on the side you couldn't tell the difference between a marked carbine. We have a good time she enjoys road trips and I get a few gun shop visits in. Kinda lucked out on these. Virginia has weird hunting regulations. The gun shop these came from is in a shotgun/ muzzleloader only county and a shop that mainly deals in black and tactical style stuff . They had both been in the shop for a month so they knocked the price down on each then some more for buying both. If they had been in my home county at the original prices they wouldn't have lasted an hour on the sale rack.
