I’m considering a scope with an illuminated BDC reticle to put on my 7mm-08 Remington, something in the 3-9, 3-12, etc. power range and SFP. I deer hunt with the rifle and have found that a plain reticle is getting harder to see at dusk especially if the deer is in the tree shadows. Any recommendations? My budget is $400 maximum.
Thanks

MeoptaI just picked one up on this site for one of my rifles. I do have much higher end optics I use, but in this price range, this meopta is very nice. No BDC but does have illuminated dot which is very nice.

While researching I came across the Athlon OpticsTalos 3-12x40 - BDC 600 IR. Anyone have any hands on experience with it?

I've used the Meopta that SDupontJr mentioned. Nice glass, but heavy and big. Okie John

No first hand experience, but the Trijicon credo 3-9x looks like a dandy with the precision hunter reticle, or if it was me, the plain mildot reticle. If I was looking for what you describe I'd be trying it, especially at 17oz and the price point on this sale at $550.00 I have a notion to pull the trigger on one just for the hell of it. https://www.eurooptic.com/search.aspx?keyword=credo%203-9x

Yeah I mentioned that meopta being I just bought it and it's close to your budget. But in your original post, you didnt mention light weight. There are some other options that are light weight but it will be out of your price range.
And this meopta is only 23oz. So not sure if 3 oz is a deal breaker.

Sorry but I’ve been out feeding cows and checking fences. I've got a Burris E-1 3-9 illuminated with ballistic plex that I'm not using also. What’s the model number of your scope? Thanks

I've been impressed with my Sig Whiskey3 2-7. It's got an illuminated dot duplex but, the bottom post of the duplex subtends a useful amount for aiming out to 450yds -ish staying on fur. 14 oz or so. Liked it so much I just got a 3-9 illuminated. These have been discontinued but, there's a shop in AL selling them for $150 which is a bargain. Sig will sell you a custom dialing turret for $60. 16oz. This is the scope I'm going to use to try and stretch my range a bit. They seem to be built like a tank and sighting in they seem to have consistent clicks and fairly light weight with 1 inch tubes. An experiment for me so take this for what it's worth.

The Burris hd is a pretty sweet rig for the price although you may pay a bit more than budgeted but not much more.

Did they discontinue that Burris I can’t find one for sale or mention of it on the Burris site?
