OK, here is the latest update. No pics yet. The gun is For Sale. My friend was coming up here yesterday and bringing the gun. Unfortunately the friend he was going to stay with came down with the dreaded scourge of Covid. He will be coming up in the next two weeks or so. He told me to put the word out. The asking price is $2,000.00.
1. The barrel definitely looks factory made / marked / original.
2. The receiver has been reblued
3. The stock is a low comb, period correct, has been cut, has an approx 3/4" recoil pad on it. It might make 13-1/2" LOP with a 1 inch pad. He had an un-molested Featherweight stock for it. I do not know if that stock was period correct, low comb, Monte Carlo, aluminum buttplate, later composite, or if it is even offered.

If nothing else, it is a nice and very unique hunting rifle. If it was mine, I would find a 1952ish 22K Hornet to swap actions and make a gem.

If you want to buy it without seeing it contact me, otherwise wait for pics, but bottomline it is for sale for $2,000.00.

I didn't write it down as my friend knows guns and it was in the proper range.

I here ya. Someone was wanting a muzzle brake for their 350 Legend! I heard that they kick lighter than a 223? It isnt a terrible price for a shooter Hornet.

A fwt hornet makes all the sense in the world to me, but there's just so many questions. Can he text pics? Like ak said, real, 10k plus, id say so. Not original, sure, big dump in value, but.... I dunno, id like to see something.

Finally I have some pics. These are the best I could do. The barrel looks perfect to the naked eye. The pics show scratches, gouges, shadows etc. but there is not a stray mark on the barrel. The gun is back in the "I am going to hold onto it for awhile" status, but here are the pics of it to enjoy, criticize, drool, whatever.

More pics. A lot are the same because I could not get the entire rollmark focused clearly. I wanted the entire rollmark to be seen as it is perfect; not as my pics show. I can get the Hornet, Featherweight, and the Winchester markings but can't get them all focused at the same time. I didn't take pictures of the stock as it has a pad anyway.

That sure is something! Never seen one of them before.

Pretty neat, did the bolt handle have a hole in it?

No hole in the bolt knob and I kind of doubt there is a Hornet made with a hole in the bolt knob.
