I have a Winchester 1903 22 Automatic that had a bad chamber and it wouldn't extract the spent round, had to beat it out with a cleaning rod. I posted on the rimfire page on FB and a member contacted me and sold me a mint replacement barrel for a fantastic price. I took it to BenchMark Barrels in Silvana, WA and they replaced the barrel for me for a great price and the the old gun is a shooter once again! I'm just thrilled to have it back up and running! I was really impressed with BenchMark Barrels, great group of people working there!

I wonder what was wrong with the other chamber that is a strange problem.

I believe there was a pit in the chamber and the brass would expand into it when fired, the extractor was ripping through the rim. I tried polishing it but it was no help.

There was a box, not a cartridge box but maybe one from playing cards, of .22 Auto rounds at my grandmother’s house back in the 60s (and earlier, no doubt). There was also one .32/20 round in that box. No idea at all where they came from as my grandparents weren’t gun people at all, and the only guns there were a 16ga J.C. Higgins bolt action and a Remington 511 with no bolt. Funny little cartridges, like .22 magnum Shorts with the inside-lube TC bullets.
