Well said, nice bang stick.

I like it. That is a HUGE brake. I am a huge fan of my 28 Nosler it simply destroys stuff.

I asked Randy my smith to try to come up with a brake that minimized the bitch slapping every brake I've ever used gives.
This is what he came up with.
I think it's fugly. It's effective as a recoil reducer.
Just looking at it, it looks like it would vent that crap right back on to you.But of the muzzle brakes I've used I find it the most forgiving in the bitch slap department.

Initial load development.
I was constrained by time. So I did a ladder test at 100 yards.
Mostly just looking to see if Id run into pressure.
N570 never showed me anything I would consider pressure.
N570 is the biggest diameter stick powder I've ever seen.
My Neil Jones powder throw didn't like it very much.
My Auto Trickler dialed out precise charges with no issues.

That sucker is cool. The brake is ugly, but I’m betting you appreciate it.

The load you made up is a giant killer.

With 80+ grain powder charges, that’s a Mule kick for sure.

I have a Terminator T3 on my 28 and I love it. It matches the barrel, and works wonderfully. I use 80 grains of H1000 with a 180 Berger Hybrid and it is a wonderful load. Ive killed coues and elk out to 700 with perfect results, with a MV of 3200.

That probably would not be a bad place to be.
When I first started loading this thing back in 21 my smith was recommending Reloader 33.
At that time and I'm thinking even now 33 is impossible to get.
beretzs, My large cartridge advisor.... Suggested N570 and the 175g Accubond.
Took some time but I gathered up everything. Used Nosler brass and Widden reloading dies.
At this time I don't think I have 50 rounds down the tube.
This is where I ended up.

I've used Widden dies on my 6.5x47.
But this was my first set of there click adjustable dies

I was mentored by a guy who worked developing the Speer load data. He focused on the pattern of the velocities as charges increase. He said that if velocities decrease or don’t increase as charges increase that is an indicator of max pressures. Adding even more powder will lead to bigger jumps than predicted based on the pattern previously established. Thereafter there will be substantial velocity jumps.

So when you get to a flat spot stop and perhaps back off. Double base powders can exhibit greater swings.

Good points Rick. I think we were working off the premise that 570 was about the same burn speed as 33, so since we had some data to show Nosler tested speeds with that bullet at about 3150-3200, we figured 570 should be able to achieve the same speeds safely.

For the last several deer seasons I've been running my 270 STW. The 28 Nosler has been sitting.
After some prodding by Scotty. I figured I'd get the thing in the field.
It had been awhile since I shot it so I took it out and checked my zero before season.

300 yards.

A very flat shooting rifle.
At least to 300 yards anyways

With a PTG bolt.Tear drop bolt handle.
Rifle basic trigger.
Bartlien 1-9 5R finish at 26.
Precision armament muzzle brake.
McMillian GP/HTG stock.
Finished in DuraCoat desert digital.
Zeiss Victory 2.5-10x50.

DRT.
Bigtime DRT.
It was impressive.
The 175g LRAB does not disappoint.
