Dave, my older brother, died at home yesterday afternoon.
I guess it was a heart attack.
In spite of his being 6 years older than me, we were always pretty close.
We both loved hunting and shooting, and we both raced in separate classes at Windber Speedway.
Dave always lived pretty fast, and I guess it finally caught up with him.
I’m still a little shocked, and I’m trying to help my nephew Jake. He’s sorta beating himself up over it.
I’d appreciate your prayers.

Dave was actually a pretty bad influence on me from time to time.
Traveling with him, you never knew where you gonna end up!
Carols birthday, we went for some steel for the race car around 4 o’clock.
I got home at 3 am and we had wrapped a wire fence around The Old Man’s Jeep!
We got into trouble, but we always had fun doing it.
I know I’m gonna miss the hell outta him. Have have been the last 3 or 4 years since he couldn’t get around to go hunting.
This year I took Jake with me up on the mountain, and we left a beer and a cigarette on The it Rock for The Old Man.
I guess next year it’ll be two beers.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost one of my little brothers and it HURTS. I couldn’t imagine life without my siblings and I truly thank God for them, we understand each other innately and love each other immensely.

7mm - Sincerely sorry for the loss of your older brother. My 6 years younger brother died of a heart attack 18 months ago. Unlike you and your brother, we were not nearly as close, but the loss is still the same. Except for up to a 9 day stay at deer camp once a year for about 20 years, our lives didn't mesh at all. Condolences to you and the rest of your/his family and his friends.

Prayers sent for your nephew. I lost my younger brother a year ago around Mother’s Day he was 47 and did not take care of himself either. Please spend time with your nephew, hopefully he likes the track as much as you and your brother.

Don't think you knew my brother, he was 9 years older than me.
Rolled a tractor and manure spreader down a hill at 8, had been physically and
somewhat mentally handicapped for the last 54 years.
Some years ago at a Labor Day party in Graceville Dave learned that frank loved
riding in trucks, pickups...whatever.
He showed up with his real truck, we got Frank in it and off they went.
Your brother showed my brother a great time that day.(without getting in trouble😉)
Frank passed away December 5th.
Maybe they have a Large Car to cruise the golden streets.
Parents who say they have good kids..Usually don't!

My brother and I have our differences, but I love that kid to death even though he's an idiot at times. I can't imagine loosing him, and I can't imagine myself in your shoes. I wish you the best, and for what it's worth, my prayers are with you. May God bless you and keep you and your family.

Many thanks to all who have responded. It really makes me feel good knowing that the family and I are covered in so many prayer.
I wrote this, figuring on reading it at Dave’s funeral.
What can I say about my brother Dave?
Dave and I fought and cussed at eachother, but we also loved eachother.
My brother, sometimes mentor, and my very good friend.
Me and Dave hunted together, fished together, worked on cars and trucks together.
Dave taught me to shoot on his own.22. I bet between us, that rifles seen close to a million rounds!
The time he and I shared with The Old Man, hunting, fishing or just hanging around talking are treasured memories to me, and I know they were to Dave.
It's hell to say goodbye to Dave, as it was when we said goodbye to The Old Man.
I'm mourning my own loss right now.
But in a while, I'll remember Dave with a smile, and I'll be thanking God for his friendship until we're reunited again!

What can i say about my brother Dave?
We fought and cussed at each other, sure what brothers don’t fight sometimes?
We were always right after all!
But we always loved eachother .
Dave was a mentor to me sometimes, and he was always a great friend.
We Played football and baseball in the yard. He always won because he was bigger than me.
We hunted together, we fished together, we worked on our vehicles together, even a couple race cars!
Dave was a loose cannon, but he was always a blast to be around!
We spent a lot of time with The Old Man, hunting, fishing, butchering deer, and sometimes just kicking back and BSing.
I treasure these memories, and I know Dave did too.
It’s pretty rough, saying goodbye to Dave.
Just as it was rough for the three of us to say goodbye to The Old Man.
Right now, I guess I’m mourning my own loss.
The mourning will fade, but the memories we shared will never fade.
I know in time I’ll think of Dave and smile or laugh, just as I do with Mom & Dad, and I know I’ll Be thanking God for having him in my life just the same.
I’ve always considered myself one lucky son of a gun!
