I ordered one before I made the post. The order is in process. I haven't decided how I am going to scope it.

The Paul plague is all on Brother Paul. He’s the person you go out with and they complain about which way the door swings, wait time, how much ice is in the drink, how cooked or not cooked is their meal. It never ends with those fugk tards

I know, I know. I really shouldn't worry about the bullet from a $1200 rifle hitting the target sideways, but I am anal like that.

I don't know.

Thought about the 223 until I saw the 1/2 x 20 thread on the barrel. Odd if that’s correct as I have never seen that thread pattern used as a standard size.

Press fit barrels

Heavy weight

That’s a pass.

Can you give me a source of them being press fit?

Heavy is both relative and subjective. At 6.6 pounds, I don't consider their short action heavy.

A 9 twist does everything that I want it to. I don't need to push anything over 70.

I don't think they're press-fit:

The older Steyrs were press fit.

Quote
I've read plenty of conflicting information regarding rebarreling Steyr rifles. Google search results indicate that the barrels are pressed in. That may have been correct decades ago, but not today.

Per Steyr, the SBS actions have threaded barrels and can be rebarreled by competent gunsmiths. That includes the Pro Hunter, new THB's, SSG04, and the SSG08.

https://www.steyrclub.com/threads/my-steyr-rebarrel-journey.12530/

When I spoke to Steyr about re-barreling my older (1988) Pro Hunter I was that it was press fit, and they no longer had the equipment to rebarrel the older rifles.

Well, the Paul Plague struck again. I ordered a Pro Hunter III which has an advertised weight of 6.6 pounds. I received a Pro Hunter II. It weighs 7 pounds 14 ounces. I thought it felt heavy at the FFL but didn't notice the II instead of the III and did the paperwork on it. I sent PSA a message. We'll see how PSA responds.

It’s your job, Brother Paul ,to inspect your firearm and then decide whether to accept it. Why’d you accept the wrong firearm, Brother Paul? Sheesh

Yah, I was a moran. I did a complete function check, looked down the bore and confirmed the serial number which is right by the Pro Hunter II.

They were showing both at one time. My order shows PH3.

CZ used or uses that thread pattern. My South American made Citadel Trakr .17 HMR uses that pattern. I had to buy this thread adapter to mount my suppressor on the .17 HMR.

Not yet my brother. When I submitted the email, I got an auto response with a case number with a note that they normally respond within 1 day, but may take as long as 3.

I went on a buying spree about 15 years ago that lasted three years. Glad it's over. At one point, I wondered if I could stop.

That portion of my portfolio is now secured.

I don't think they have any, so it'll just be a refund.

Really like mine. Put together as a night hunting rig for predators. Gun has shot everything well that i shot through it so far. Particularly likes cheap 55gr pmc bronze soft points. Heck of a gun for the price.

IIRC the PH2 has a laminated stock and is uglier than a Savage.
The PH3 reminds me of the CLXII, which never could be found here.
The diff looks to be the bolt handle.

I like the butterknife bolt on my PH1. Rifle shoots fine. Only issue is weight. Its a tank.
The PH1 stock is funky but works.

Got the email today that my refund had been processed. If it hits the bank within a few days, I'll call it good. Crap happens, and it seems as if they are doing right.

PSAs refund made it back into my account, but it was short $18.00. That happens to be their shipping rate. I sent them an email asking for an explanation.

PSA quickly refunded the $18.00. PSA made two errors and corrected them both in a timely manner. I call that good problem resolution.
