I don't have a dedicated turkey shotgun. All of my shotguns were bought with the intent of pulling duty on different types of game. The same guns I hunt squirrel or deer with are the ones I hunt turkeys with.
I do like that one on the right. What is it? A Valmet?

Im not good at pictures here.. sorry.
The middle looks like a 20 affinity? How do you like it?
Whats the left? How do you like it.
I'm thinking of a 870 youth fieldmaster 20 gauge right now

Crap!!! Lol! LGS I go to sold the BPS 410. Now they have a Beneli M1 12ga 3" camo with a 24" barrel and a slug barrel for $850! Was a time I had a plethora of turkey guns, now, just the 870 youth 20ga and a drawerfull of 3" 20ga TSS.

I use to have my main turkey gun and a backup. Then I bought a backup for my backup, and a backup for that one....so on and so forth. I guess I had 8 or 9 at one point. I sold them all and bought a Wby 459 20ga and an 870 20ga. I don't see me buying anymore unless something happens to one of them.

Franchi had a 3.5 inch model before they released a the affinity 3. I bought the plain affiity and not that 3.5 inch version that had a cool optic rail drooved in the reciever. Yours looks similar to that model. Was it drilled and tapped for your optic? or have the groove? BTW.. Ive on;y ever seen one of the 3.5 inch versions used so people must like them. Thanks for tolerating extra questions...

now, just the 870 youth 20ga. How do you shoot that thing? I picked one up and shouldered it and the stock was so short my right thumb was pressed into my nose.

It is a franchi 912 variomax 3.5" chambered 12, was not drilled and tapped, bought it around 2005 and it was discontinued shortly afterwards. I bought the 912 to carry in the rain instead of the scoped valmet which was my main turkey gun that accounted for over 100 gobblers, after I got old and the 835 kicked the dogshit out of me, then I got older and even it kicks bad, so in my infinate wisdom I last year purchased some nitro manufacturing 3.5" 2 5/8 oz turkey loads. HOLY BEJESUS! they are brutal, so spent my social security check on the affinity. but did kill aa pile of gobblers with the 912, farthest was 53 yards.

It started out as a youth 20, but no longer wears the youth stock. I put a Knoxx Blackhawk AR style adjustable LOP stock with verticle pistol grip on it.

Alas, looks like I may miss turkey season, or most of it anyway. Getting a new knee about that time. Might sneak in a few days early or late, depending on the scheduling. Anyway, I suppose all those fancy turkey shells will keep.

Pappy, if our most esteemed ex-member can scootch around the woods on a hip replacement and kill 7 birds, you can get out on a knee replacement.

Probably. The recovery period is “depends”. My notion is that once the incision is stable I should be good to go. I have a lot of questions that’ll probably get answered at the mandatory Joint Camp before surgery. In general, the recovery for the 3D-printed one I’m getting is supposed to be shorter. I’ll do PT at home with a visiting nurse, which beats the Hell out of going out for it. It’ll be outpatient surgery so my chances of picking up a fatal respiratory disease or food poisoning are greatly reduced too.
Last season I hunted on trekking poles carrying a pistol, just as well as no legal turkeys were encountered. Once this knee is settled I should be able to expand my territory too. Lots better places to hunt turkeys than my local WMA.
What fresh Hell is this?

Best of luck on a speedy recovery with the knee.
Glocks, if the 870 has the plastic stock, they come with spacers (or at least they use to) to lengthen the pull. Buddy of mine has one and he is 6'4" and uses one with all the spacer. My 870 was a youth with a wood stock and I was able to find a full size camo factory plastic set of forearm and butt stock to put on mine. I love the thing.

The ones I've handed was the wood stocked version.
Just trying to understand, and not trying to argue: if the youth model 20 gauge has the same receiver as the standard gun, but a shorter stock, then you replace the stock with a full sized stock, why buy the youth version to beging with?

Anyway, I suppose all those fancy turkey shells will keep. Fella was in a bad car crash in 6/17, spent almost 4 months learning how to walk again. On May 1 2018 I had a TKR done. 14 days later I killed a long beard. Was not an easy task, but I wanted to hunt. So don't count your self out yet.

Last couple years I've used a Winchester 37 12 ga. No complaints. I've enjoyed going back to simple.

I wanted the 21" barrel that comes on the youth gun. That is why I got mine. I looked at one this weekend. That is a nice barrel length. I checked Midwest Gun Works to see if they have those in stock. They do list them in 12 gauge, but they aren't in stock. If anyone is interested, you can put yourself on tne "Notify Me" list. Once enough interest builds up, they may get some in. RemArms is delivering parts, now. https://www.midwestgunworks.com/page/mgwi/prod/F240333I put myself on the Notify Me list for the 12 gauge Mossberg 500 20" vent rib barrel. Within 2 months, I got an "In Stock" notice, though I never bought it. Still in stock. https://www.midwestgunworks.com/page/mgwi/prod/90119m

I got mine for a really good price. I went to the gun range to shoot sporting clays and saw it listed on the board. I call the guy and he had just left the range, so he turned around and 10 minutes later I had bought it. I came home drill and tapped it for a rail, put a red dot on it, changed the trigger spring out, as well as the stock and I was good to go. Right place at the right time (for once) all the pieces fell into place.

I need to find a bigger bird with this one soon. ‘Nuther M2 26” Great picture. The places I hunt have tons of areas that look like that. I see mallards and wood ducks all the time. I'd really like to give that type of duck hunting a try.

I picked up the Nikon Monarch scope that was in the classifieds here, has the turkey-plex reticle. So now, looking for another turkey gun to put it on! Lol! The gunstore I like to go to has a Mossberg 835 that's been in the consignment rack for a while and it's under $300. Short barrel, factory turkey choke tube, factory woodland camo, and like a lot of 835's, not shot a lot. Receiver is D&Ted, so wouldn't have to do that. An 835 isn't my first pick, and not interested in 3-1/2" shells, but the price makes it attractive! Ha! The shop also has a very nice Benelli M1, advantage camo, with both a 24" VR barrel and a rifle sight slug barrel, very nice condition, for under $900. Decisions, decisions!

I’m with ya Dean… I can’t find love for any 3-1/2” shells. 😃
Never tried a scope on a turkey gun but I’m going to give it a whirl this season. A 1-4 or possibly a 2-7. Seems like I have a fixed 2x or 2.5x Leupold somewhere in the stash. Probably set it up on a 21” Rem 870 that I put together. Had it drilled and tapped. Weaver picatinny rail, Indian Creek tube, Win Long Beard 6’s or the factory super full. Both pattern well.
Always fun to try something different 💪

For anybody who hasn't turkey hunted with an optic whether that be a red dot or a scope you are in for a treat! Started out with a weaver on my 835 and have since put some kind of optic on everything I chase turkeys with
