Some very good skill and techniques among those players - but - in the OP example the result was too repetitive/unimaginative/and eventually boring.

It's a cover. Did the LLB get boring in YO, or did they cover in YO, a repetitive/unimaginative/& eventually boring song ?

I understand your point, but bands do get a choice - and decide what to cover. It's still a performance and, in the end, repetitive/unimaginative/& eventually boring is just that.

They're covering what's liked of certain rock bands. And whether you approve of Ramble On or not, it is a very popular song from a very popular band.
Name your idea of a great rock song, chances may be they've covered it. If so, you can judge them from that.
Would love to see what it is.

Big bag from which to draw, depending on kind of rock, so will just keep it simple. Please put up their cover of any of Danny Gatton's hottest solo pieces - maybe rockabilly like his improvised Elvis medley in Cruisin Dueces, or maybe put up their duplicate of Gatton's Gearheads from the Relentless album. If they are good enough to cover any of his best stuff fully and accurately, it will not be repetitive or boring.
