Noah did not know he could get drunk. I think that's why he planted the grapes to begin with. I don't think you could make wine without knowing why.

It was a joke in Boy's Life, why Noah didn't swat those fly's.

If this is like every other volunteer youth project that I've ever seen, the kids regardless of good intentions initially, end up goofing off, grab assing, not showing up on work days...and the adult mentors end up doing everything and then re doing what little the kids manage to accomplish.
And since somebody else already brought it up...I'd suspect Noah was a boozer, why else would he allow mosquitoes on board? He was passed out at boarding time.
Ain't I just a little ray of sunshine? Well, he did get drunk and knock up his daughters. Not his first cousins, but his daughters.
