One cause of the problem can be the inletting in the trigger area is too tight, putting sideways pressure where it should not be. A few thousandths relief fixes that - as long as it doesn't re-occur.

I built a new stock for my 700, once upon a time, 40 odd years ago.... still has the same Walker in it, working fine.... since. And no, there was no AD, since there was no round in the chamber on testing for function.

I have often wondered if the above observation isn't responsible in some factory stocks as well.

The guy messed with the trigger or someone else did or it was more than just dirty. Simple test to check a trigger set to light, either shove the bolt forward hard as you can a few times with safety off or hold gun by the muzzle and let the butt of stock hit the ground as you let go. if it goes off then the trigger was messed with..

Too tight tolerance by the trigger has nothing to do with it going off, it has to be pulled back, and stock shouldn't be moving.
