These aggravating fur bags are getting out of hand where I deer and turkey hunt. I want to pick up a cheap suppressor ready semi-auto of some sort.
The Rossi rs22 has got my attention. Any thoughts on it or other suggestions?
Coyotes would an occasional target too.

How much land are you looking to try an maintain? Shooting them is fun and helpful no doubt but if you truly want to reduce the numbers significantly its gonna take more than a new rifle.

A take down Ruger 10/22 would be fun.

Coyotes at what range? Because I'd feel better with a centerfire on those myself.

If no yotes - a Ruger 10/22 or a 45/22 pistol with a can would be the ticket.

Where I hunt isn’t convenient enough to where I live to keep any kind of traps running. My idea is use my fox pro caller to try and thin the coons out a bit before turkeys start to nest. So I’m gonna be using a 17hmr or 22mag initially anyways.
But I want to plan on a suppressor in the future. I have an assortment of actions and rimfire configurations now. Just don’t have anything with a treaded barrel tho. I figured being semi-auto would limit movement during operation.

I agree that a rimfire isn’t the best thing to use on coyotes. In fact some of them get gone without finding them. So long as they’re gone I’m ok with that.

Not the cheapest option, but a Tikka T1x with the 16” threaded barrel and a suppressor would be real hard to beat! I have semi-autos as well, but they aren’t as quiet as a bolt action.

Also second the dogproof raccoon traps. We have had problems in the past, and starting to again as we speak, and those are my preferred tools (unless you have a PCP air rifle with moderator, which can be as effective as the .22). I only set the traps when I am around our hunting property to check ‘em, then trip’em when I leave.

This is the way I'd go. It's not as cheap as the Rossi, but it'll be more accurate and it'll run right suppressed with subsonic loads. I'd be a bit leery of cheaper semi-autos and sub-sonic suppressed.

That would work, but I think the op was wanting to use a rimfire. A suppressed one at that. If he wants to try the Rossi, he should try it and let us know how it works out. Doesn't seem like anyone has any experience with one of those. I'd still get a take down 10/22, or something like that, but that's just me. Have killed plenty of yotes with the 22lr. Just use the right bullet.

I’d still go with dog proofs first. I had 4 out of 10 loaded on the first overnight set last year. They work so much than shooting.

Coons aren't that hard to kill, neither are 'yotes.

I figured it might help in not alerting the coons to the shot as much if more than one came in at a time. That’s also the desire for an automatic action offering less movement.
Might help keep the neighbors from taking as much notice too.

My Ruger American rimfire doesn't have the best stock (flimsy plastic), but it comes suppressor ready, is quiet with my Dead Air Mask, and is accurate and light enough to carry all day.

Two reasons:

1. Shooting unsuppressed is uncivilized
2. I have bad tinnitus from the corps

Can't help with opinions on the Rossi, but the gold standard of semiauto's is the Ruger 10/22. If you're going to jump through the hoops and expense of getting a suppressor, why cheap out on the host? JMO One problem with a suppressed semiauto however is that what you gain with less movement cycling the action is canceled by more noise. A suppressor won't quiet the noise of the bolt slamming back and forth with the shot. Don't let me dissuade you though, a suppressed .22 of any sort is a grin and it will keep the neighborhood quieter

I have shot a suppressed 10/22 with Aguila sub-sonics, the only thing you hear is the action working which was still very quiet.
