See that remington is gonna chamber these in their cdl and cdl sf. 1:8,5R. Looks promising. Anyone know when they will be available?

They also offer a 1:8 twist 7 RM too.
Both good moves.

Look at Remington, actually paying attention. Good for them.
Now with even more aplomb

Both good moves. Thinking the 7 rem is the way to go and I know better, but the 7 prc has some of those custom vibes to it in a factory rig.

Cue up Admiral Ackbar... it's a trap!
Seriously, though, I hope the new Remington gets it right and keeps it that way this time.

180 lead bullets and 168 Barnes lrx for copper. Not a bad place to be.

My deal on the 7 rem, is if I put a 180 in it, is it gonna be shoved way down in the case and seated deep or will it actually have room in the throat to take advantage of those long bullets?

If that bullet can be seated out a ways, it'd make my decision pretty easy.

It’s going to be h4350 because that’s what I have piles of. We will see. Trekker stock adds 4oz over the Tupperware stock, but it dropped right in. $799 for the rem and $299 for the stock. If I cut 3” of barrel, different scope, I could get it down to a reasonable hunting weight.

I will tell you in a few days. Have a new 1-8 7Rem mag I am getting ready to start loading 180eldms for. I am curious to hear how long (or short) the throat is. Have a friend with a RemArms pre 5r bbl in a 308. He says he can ALMOST reach the lands within the confines of the magazine. Another friend has a SPS SS in 308 with the 5r, he says he can hit the lands. That’s a far cry from the old Remington’s typically long throats.

Did you grab an sps stainless and restock it? Was wondering if a wood stock and flutes was worth another 550?

Does it have a 24” or 26” bbl currently? My biggest gripe with the current M700’s is the 24” barrels in conventional cartridges. It’s not needed for most applications.

Obviously, mag length and throat will determine OACL. Hopefully, Rem did more than just screw on a 1:8. Taking nothing away from my 7mm Rem Mags, I did pick up a 7mm PRC and am really liking it. And now that the Garmin has finally showed up, will start trying some different loads. Best to you guys with your projects, enjoy!

My concern on a new quick twist 700 7mm rem mag would be if Remington was smart enough to pull their head out of their ass and get rid of their short throat as well. Both the 150 gr and 175 gr corelokts are dual diameter hence the short throat. 3.6" box and throated to use some of the high bc bullets would be great. I am not hearing all that great of stories on the durability of said high bc bullets. So even throated for 175 npt's it would be great. We all don't want the same things in bullet performance but I allways want a decent wound channel and an exit hole. Mb
