I will tell you in a few days. Have a new 1-8 7Rem mag I am getting ready to start loading 180eldms for. I’m looking forward to seeing how you get it set up. It’s going to be h4350 because that’s what I have piles of. We will see. Trekker stock adds 4oz over the Tupperware stock, but it dropped right in. $799 for the rem and $299 for the stock. If I cut 3” of barrel, different scope, I could get it down to a reasonable hunting weight. I will be interested in hearing how it shoots and if you can get close to the lands. Does it have a 24” or 26” bbl currently? My biggest gripe with the current M700’s is the 24” barrels in conventional cartridges. It’s not needed for most applications. 26”. Will probably leave as is.

SAAMI indicates ~.250 FB for a 7 PRC. That sounds generous. Knowing Rem in the past, they'd exceed that.
Just surmising.

Did you grab an sps stainless and restock it? Was wondering if a wood stock and flutes was worth another 550? Yep. It’s a sps 1-8 from midway. Can you seat em out?

I can't talk about the 180 ELDM, but the 175 ABLR aren't all that bad with respect to 'infringing on case capacity'. I can still get 70+ grains of powder in a 7RM at 3.38 OAL without drop tubes or compression. In fact landed up to 71.5 gr of Retumbo without a drop tube of alot of powder compression. I can't really ask for much more.....

Plenty of throat on that chamber. The boat tail starts above or at the neck/shoulder junction. Won't be able to chase the lands much with the short neck but it's looking good for now. I'm liking my new prc but wonder if I'll have the clicker problem with it after a few loads.
I could be pretty happy with a 7 mag with an 8 twist and 3.6" box throated about like that. I could even tolerate the belts if it meant avoiding the prc clicker issue. Frustrating that the gun industry can get close but never get it all right. Especially when a simple change on a reamer spec could make the factory prcs be problem free. But the companies seemed determined to never give us what we really want.
Look at all the years we had truck tire hard recoil pads, 8 pound creepy triggers, flexi Tupperware with no bedding even at the lug, slow twist rifles, throat depths no where near mag box specs etc.
Pretty impressive that rem got as much right as they did this go around. Now if they could get all their short actions 3" mag boxes and fast twist their barrels like they're starting to do on some and then doing standard round barrels no more than 22" and mags no more than 24" with a decent pad and decent adjustable trigger they'd be back in the game.
There's always going to be those guys that are still wanting that extra 2" of barrel though. I'm not sure why because a few fps isn't worth crappy handling and balance when it's easy to just dial another click. Compensating maybe. Probably tough to build a good rifle and still appease the ignorant masses. Always going to be someone wanting longer barrels and slower twists for their round nose corelocks.

Looking promising so far. That’s definitely going to give you some leeway to work.

Me too. +1 I'm ready to pull trigger on the new RemArms Alpha1 or Sendero. Preference is 7RM, and I plan to reload for it. But I don't have the expertise to know whether it's advisable to encroach that far into cartridge powder space. 7 PRC is great choice, but my personal preference is 7RM with high BC bullets. Looking forward to Calvin's report.

Easy decision for the rem mag after seeing that. Prc won't touch that cartridge!
