when we lived in colorado for twenty years they had an "early first rifle mule deer buck above timberline" tag available in later years. looking in my 2023 pdf and 2022 paper brochures i either am missing it or the d.o.w. deleted the season due to prevailing low muley numbers. anybody know for sure?. thinking about it for 2025 though the season dates arent announced yet. and yes i know its a hard hunt, have been to some of them places numerous times. tyia...

That went away a few years ago. It was pretty popular and ended up taking quite a few points to draw. Don't know why they quit it though

They still have that season in a few units - GMU 43, 48, 82/86/861 and maybe more. Look at your brochure again under deer, rfile. They are the ones with the Sept 9-17, 2023 dates with the hunt codes ending in E1- R.

thank you both for the reply. i found online stats on it in 2021 on some onX page, and happily ive found it in the 2023 big game guide. over the yrs we hunted 82 86 861 a lot. so now i can monitor the 2024 guide when it comes out and hope for a season in 2025! 👍😁

Yep,I see them now. Didn't there use to be more units though? Didn't they use to appear in a separate page ,instead of combined with all the others?
