That's overly reductive, but certainly a factor. Wars existed long before central banks.

That is certainly true, more accurate to say that all wars are caused by economics vs good/ bad/evil Economic self interest certainly plays a role in international conflict that eventually lead to war. At the very least, countries seldom go to war when it looks like it will not benefit economically (Most of the time war is a negative for countries economically, but who bothers to learn from history?) Money and Banking are going to be tied into those economic interests, along with business in general. To just pluck banks out of the mix and lay it all at their feet, as if it explains everything, is just a bad historical analysis.

Modern wars are business ventures. Smedley D. Butler has been largely forgotten. It was definitely true for the wars he had experience with, but after WWII his book 'War is a Racket' was no longer very popular.
